The award was given during a Life Care ceremony held at the American Medical Directors Association Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida. Eight division award winners were also honored.
Burgstahler has served patients at Life Care Center of Sandpoint since the building opened in 1997, first as medical director and since 2013 as the on-site physician. Multiple associates and family members praised him for his kind and attentive bedside manner.
“The residents love him and respect him and know that no matter how big or small their issue is, Dr. Burgstahler will give his undivided attention to them, making them feel validated and cared for,” said Caren Brays, a registered nurse at the facility.
Burgstahler makes himself available to residents and associates, even coming in outside of work hours for facility activities or to assist with a resident care need. He allows medical students to shadow him and makes himself available in the community as a speaker on senior topics.
“Physicians play a pivotal role in the care of our residents,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president, “and we are proud to honor those who stand out in their commitment and their compassion to ensure the health and well-being of those entrusted to them.”
