On Sept. 28, 2016, Life Care Center of Sandpoint, Idaho, held its fifth annual pie contest.
Associates, family members and a former resident entered 19 different types of pies, with four judges. The local newspaper publisher, a police officer, a branch manager of a credit union and an area manager of a home health agency had the pleasant task of deciding on first, second and third place.
Coming in first was a former associate for her huckleberry cheesecake with a pecan crust. She won a set of Pioneer Woman pots and pans.
Second place went to an associate’s daughter for her apple pie that had fall leaves made with the crust. She won a pie plate and some kitchen utensils.
Third place went to a former resident for his cherry chocolate pecan pie. He won a set of mixing bowls.
“This is such a fun event,” said Marchelle Fritz, admissions and marketing director. “Our associates worked so hard on these attractive, tasty pies.”
